LandYield Team Visits Just Love Forest

Last month, the LandYield team had the privilege of visiting one of our partner forests in Northwest Georgia, just a short drive from our Chattanooga office. We spent a fantastic afternoon exploring the forest with owner James Yancey and discussing his vision for the land.

James has a unique vision for his forest, where he hosts community events, workshops, and retreats. His goal? Transform his property—formerly owned by a timber company—into a nature preserve that invites people to bask in the beauty of its 716 acres. At Just Love Forest, one of the standout practices is the Japanese tradition of Shinrin-Yoku, or forest bathing.

What is Forest Therapy and Forest Bathing?

Forest bathing is often incorporated into the broader practice of forest therapy, which draws from a broad range of disciplines and nature-based activities. This immersive experience encourages visitors to engage all their senses and wander slowly through the forest, letting natural curiosity lead the way. It is all about accessing the tranquility and wisdom that lies both in the forest and within us.

Protecting Nature and Forest Therapy with LandYield

Inheriting a landscape significantly altered by extensive logging, he has pursued innovative ways to restore the forest’s health, conserve its beauty, and ensure long-term sustainability—ultimately finding that LandYield’s forest carbon program was the perfect fit for his conservation goals.

Why James Chose LandYield

Although he spoke with other forest carbon project developers, James found LandYield’s team to be the most honest and transparent. “They were upfront about the program’s restrictions and helped me create a custom site map for my project, leaving out plots where I plan to build future campsites.”

Benefits for Landowners

Just Love Forest exemplifies the dual benefits of LandYield’s forest carbon program. It provides landowners like James with a valuable revenue stream to cover forest management costs while significantly enhancing environmental sustainability through carbon sequestration and habitat restoration.

James’s story is a powerful reminder of how the LandYield program positively impacts both the environment and the community. We are excited to continue supporting landowners like James and look forward to more success stories that highlight the transformative impact of our program.
