At LandYield, we believe forests are more than just trees—they’re places of connection and recreation. That’s why we’re proud to announce two new partnerships with the Sequoyah Council (TN) and the Shenandoah Council (VA) of Scouting America to conserve their camp properties.
Through these agreements, the two councils will join the growing voluntary carbon market (VCM), generating recurring revenue by keeping its forest standing and healthy. Rather than harvesting timber for short-term gains, the Scouting councils can now earn verified carbon credits for the carbon stored in its trees—while continuing to use the property for camping, hiking, and other Scouting activities.
A Natural Fit: Scouting and Stewardship
The partnership builds directly on Scouting’s long tradition of conservation, and aligns with the values of Scouting to be good stewards and prepare young people to be responsible citizens. By participating in the carbon market, the Sequoyah and Shenandoah Councils can reinvest in youth programming, outdoor education, and the long-term care of their camping properties—all while ensuring its forests remain intact for future generations.
We are very excited to be working with both the Sequoyah and Shenandoah Councils, as projects like these are exactly why we created our program. At LandYield, we’re passionate about empowering land conservation, and making sure that future generations continue to enjoy forests for recreation.
Across the two councils, there are four camp properties now conserved in our forest carbon program, each of which has been a home for exploration and adventure for generations of Scouts. Now, thanks to this conservation agreement, these forests will remain a place where young people can learn resilience, responsibility, and respect for the natural world. At LandYield, we’re honored to play a role in protecting these special places. Together with the Sequoyah and Shenandoah Councils, we’re proving that conservation and community go hand in hand.
