Do you or your family own forest land in the Northeast? You may now be eligible to earn revenue from the fast-growing carbon market. LandYield is excited to announce the expansion of its revolutionary carbon program to include Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and West Virginia.

Not only does the carbon market provide a new revenue opportunity for family landowners — but it also helps enrich the local economy, supports wildlife, captures carbon, and conserves forests so that families can enjoy their beauty and recreational benefits for generations to come.

Opening the Carbon Market to Family Forests in the Northeast

Previously, earning income from the carbon market was only accessible to large landowners with many thousands of acres. Now, using our innovative technology and platform, individuals and families who own 40 to 5,000 acres of forest can quickly receive a free revenue estimate, enroll in our program, and get paid to defer timber harvests.

Our forest carbon program has already enrolled and paid landowners across the Southeast, and we are excited to bring this opportunity to the 34.4 million acres of incredibly diverse and resilient family forestlands in the Northeast.

How Does LandYield Work?

In short, we pay small landowners to defer commercial timber harvests. As trees grow, they naturally sequester carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.  When landowners participate in our program, they follow management guidelines set out by the American Carbon Registry that help their forest sequester carbon above regional norms. LandYield uses the innovative CORE Carbon™ platform to measure this additional carbon and sell it to companies that want to voluntarily lower their carbon footprint. Revenue is then passed on to our partner landowners via quarterly payments. The program is designed to be flexible and allow landowners to continue earning money from non-timber forest products, hunting leases, and recreation.
